If it is a relaxing and enjoyable evening that you are after then you must head to Howards Way restaurant for that quintessential evening meal out. Upon arrival my guest Deirdre and I were greeted with a warm smile as we were shown our seats, our coats were kindly taken and the diverse menu was placed into our hands.
Words: Claire Doyle.
The restaurant was beautifully designed with some fabulous artwork that worked well with the layout and feel of the place. The music was asteful and I especially liked the cloths that were draped on the ceiling that hid the spotlights leaving the restaurant with a calmer and more relaxing atmosphere.
The menu had lots to offer with meals for all to enjoy. As we were ordering I could not help but notice the diverse crowd that was in attendance. From families to couples and groups of young and old, everyone was out to enjoy the tastes on offer.
The starter menu offered us a great variety to choose from; I opted for one of my favourite things to eat which was a marinated Chicken Satay Skewers with Peanut and Coconut Sauce and Deirdre selected the Howards Way Bruchetta.
Our wait wasn’t long and the food was cooked to perfection, the peanut and coconut sauce complemented the chicken nicely while the portion size was perfect for a starter.
Deirdre’s bruschetta was cooked with slow roasted tomatoes, garlic and gorgonzola served with a baby leaf salad, which she said was delightful and bursting with flavours. We chose the house wine of the evening which was a 2005 Trappoline Toscana and took in the restaurants aroma while we waited for our main course.
For my main course I decided to go with the slow roasted Duck while Deirdre opted for the Fillet of Irish Beef. It was delicious and I must say I loved every bite, my duck was also served with baby roasted potatoes, flageolet and ragout. The presentation of both dishes was excellent and made the food look even more appealing. Deirdre was very happy with her choice as was evident with her empty plate, a dish she said she would recommend to anyone.
After finishing two delicious dishes the waiter thankfully and kindly suggested that we give ourselves a moment before we order dessert, an offer we gladly accepted.
While enjoying our fantastic wine I noticed a young family who were finished their meal and while mother and daughter chatted, father and son played a quiet game of cards. The tmosphere of the restaurant would be hard to beat; it was very calming and extremely relaxing and I really enjoyed my opportunity to sit back and relax after eating such an enjoyable food.
Finally our sweet tooth got the better of us and we took a glance at the delightful dessert menu. After such a filling on the previous dishes we agreed on sharing our dessert selecting the old school favourite Apple Crumble with ice-cream to finish off our evening. Yet again it was another dish that was cooked just right with the apples neither sour nor bitter but just perfect.
Perfect would be exactly what I would call my evening, the food was delicious, we were never let down with our choices but most of all I loved the atmosphere; it was so relaxing and very calm you could sit in the restaurant for hours on end.
Howards Way was excellent value for money and perfect in every sense, if you want to have as enjoyable and relaxing an evening as I had, book now on 01-2965806 or visit their new website www.howardsway.ie to find out any information you might need in the restaurant. One thing is for sure when eating at Howards Way you will leave all worries at the door and will be soaked up in their comfortable surroundings. Enjoy!

I've been in here for breakfast lunch and dinner over the years and have never been motivated to write a review. I've always been happy, rarely ecstatic. I came in last week though after a friend had raved about a meal he and his wife enjoyed. The 'Southwestern Pork' was fantastic!!!! A great big chop on the bone with a tangy glaze. They've expanded the early bird menu making it more like a prix fixe since its available ........ I'll be back a lot more regularly!

where else in this rip off country can you get a 3 course meal for 2 and a bottle of wine for €60? food is great and the menu has changed recently which is great. regularly eat here, staff are very friendly. food is very good, the only negative comment i would have is that there is not much space and tables are quite close together, but other than that no complaints at all.

Best brekkie in town! I had the pleasure of having a breakfast in Howards Way Churchtown some weeks ago, and it was so good I feel compelled to write this (something I have never done before!!!). The service was top class, and there was such a buzz about it set me up in great form for the rest of my day. I am a frequent visitor ever since.

This is one of my husband and my new favorite dinner places. The atmosphere is very relaxed and warm and the staff are attentive. The menu had changed the last time we were in and we both had fantastic meals. We really liked the new variety. If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxed evening with good friends and great food I would highly recommend it.

I have been here a few times now, last time was last week, they have an new menu now and its a vast improvement on the old one! I had the butternut squash risotto with indian spiced spinach and truffle oil, it was most tastey.

I have been here a few times with work in small groups but today a group of 16 of us went. I always thought the service was good, and today it was exceptional. It's a very popular spot for lunch so its best to book a table to be sure. Our orders were taken and we were all served at the same time. It's a small restaurant so we took up a lot of room. The food as always was delicious. I had the chicken brucheta with 2 of the salads. It's very filling and great value for money. Definitely worth a visit.
